Our Customers’ Link to The Market
At harvest time, a growers first priority is getting the crop out of the field to the elevator and getting back to the field for the next load. That takes an efficient diversified partner. Wheat Growers has a grain handling system designed to take grain at harvest fast and efficiently. Some facilities can dump 500 trucks a day and load 440,000 bushels of grain in under 15 hours. Others are located close to the field. Together they combine to create a grain handling network that markets about 150 million bushels of grain a year.

Beyond the Elevator

In addition to efficient and fast facilities to handle their grain, today’s growers need the latest marketing tools and access to useful technical analysis. We also provide cutting edge services (see below) that can help you manage your grain more effectively, helping increase grain quality and positioning grain for the best market. E-mail us for more information, or contact your location with any grain marketing questions.

About our Transportation Infrastructure
Transportation infrastructure is essential to grain marketing. We operate high-speed train loading facilities in Wolsey, Mellette, McLaughlin, Alpena and Aberdeen (Grebner), and a joint venture shuttle loader in Oakes, ND. We also have 12 other rail loading facilities. With access to multiple railroads, Wheat Growers can tap into the best markets for members’ grain.

Additionally, all of our grain marketing locations can be linked to your farming operation through our off-the-farm program or our own trucking services. Contact your location for more information.

We now offer professional bin probing at your bin site by a trained SDWG technician using specially-equipped probing equipment. Our technician will collect a representative sample from all levels of your bin. You will receive an analysis of your grain, along with pricing guarantees based on that analysis (subject to terms and conditions of such offer).

Off-the-Farm Grain Buying
OTF provides marketing value by providing more pricing options and time savings. SDWG personnel will pick producers’ grain up off the farm and move it to the best market, with load-out still being the producer’s responsibility.

Saving not only time and transportation costs, Wheat Growers can in many instances offer better FOB bids. The program allows SDWG to bid based on several different markets and to better use grain arbitrages

Bids will be customized for each grain situation. The bids will factor in different markets, freight, arbitrage possibilities, and incremental business opportunities. The grain may not even end up at SDWG, but at an ethanol or other processing plant.
